Labor on one reel. Full teardown, ultrasonic clean, inspection of every component, re-lubrication to specification, drag stack check and reassembly, then a bench test before it goes back in the box.
Every reel is serialized, so we know what it left here as and what has been done to it since.
Parts are not included. If your reel needs a bearing, a drag washer, a bail spring or anything else, we price it and contact you before fitting it. You approve the cost or you decline it, and nothing is charged either way until you do.
Every reel gets disassembled, cleaned, and inspected as part of standard service. That is covered by the service fee and there is nothing added to it. We only send you an estimate when something is broken or worn past the point of reuse and has to be replaced.
If your reel is inside the three year warranty and the failure is covered, the $95 service fee is waived and the parts and labor are handled at no cost to you. Registration has to be on file for warranty coverage to apply. If the inspection shows the failure falls outside what the warranty covers, we will tell you before any charges are applied.
Outside of warranty, the $95 service fee applies whether or not you move forward with a parts replacement.
If parts are needed, you get an itemized estimate covering those parts and the labor to install them. We do not start the work until we hear back from you.
If you decide not to go ahead, we reassemble the reel and ship it back to you at our cost.
Visser reels are built to be used hard and serviced simply. The seal does the work in the field. You do very little.
After a trip
Rinse with fresh water. You do not need to be careful about it, and you do not need to keep water off the reel. Back the drag off, wipe it down, and let it dry before it goes in a bag.
The line roller
On bail-less models, check that the roller still spins freely. The cutouts let you see it turning without taking anything apart. A roller that has stopped spinning is the one thing worth catching early, because line running over a static roller wears fast.
Storage
Store with the drag backed all the way off. Leaving pressure on the carbon fiber washers compresses them over time and flattens the drag curve. Keep the reel dry and out of direct sun.
Check the lube cap
The lubrication level cap lets you see inside the reel without taking it apart. Pull the plug and check the lube level. It also doubles as a water breach indicator, so if water has found its way in, you will know before it becomes an expensive repair rather than after.
Lubrication
Use Visser lubricant. It is the only lubricant we recommend, and it is what your reel was assembled with. Do not put lubricant into the drag stack.

What to avoid
Solvent-based degreasers and WD-40. Both will strip the factory lubrication out of bearings that were packed at assembly. A sealed reel is not a reel that never needs lube, it is a reel that keeps the lube where it belongs.
More often if it is fished hard, or if it goes fully under on a regular basis. Salt and sand in a drag stack cause more failures than anything else we see.
Every Visser is built to be opened, and ships with the Torx driver needed to do it. Plenty of owners service their own and only send a reel in when something is genuinely wrong.

Reels are covered for three years from the date of purchase, and warranty repairs carry no labor charge. If your reel is less than three years old, check the warranty terms before paying for a service. If you are not sure, contact us first and we will tell you.
